There can be additional costs with skip hire, but by following the instructions online these can all be mitigated.

Skip Permits - if your skip needs to go on the public highway you will need a skip permit and possibly a parking suspension. This will incur an additional cost and you will need to add this to your booking.

Wasted journeys (failed collections and deliveries) - these will usually incur a cost when it is not our fault, as a lorry would have been sent out to drop off the skip. Please ensure the skip can be dropped off and collected . It is your responsibility to ensure access at all times.

Overfilling – Level Loads only. Overloading will always incur extra charges. The skip is to be filled no higher than the top of its sides& in such a manner as to prevent spillage of material, both whilst the skip is stationary & in transit. It is a legal requirement that the load is safe to transport.

Prohibited items - hazardous waste (fridges, tv, paint, etc) are not allowed in skips and if found could incur a substantial additional cost. A list of what can’t be put into the skip is found on both the skip booking page and the FAQ’s.

If you are putting a skip on any public highway or road then you need to have a skip permit from the local authority/ council. You don’t need to have a skip permit if you are putting the skip on private land (driveway, garden, field, or private road).

We can organise this for you when booking online or you can go directly to your local council.

The Skip will be delivered on the date that you select when booking online at www.busybins.co.uk/skip-hire. Just use our handy calendar to select the delivery date. We offer Morning Slots (6.30am – 12.30pm) or Afternoon Slots (12.30pm- 6pm).

A skip is delivered using a heavy goods skip wagon. This is because the skip itself is quite heavy and the waste you will put into it will add considerably to the weight.

Because a HGV will be delivering the skip you need to ensure there is enough access for the vehicle to manoeuvre safely.

The standard rental period is for 7 calendar days. We will schedule the collection in 7 days after the skip was delivered. If you wish to extend the period then please contact us on 0161 766 3330 with 48 hours notice. Additional charges of £20 per week will apply. If you want the skip collecting earlier than the standard 7 days then please contact us with at least 48 hours notice and we will try to arrange an earlier collection.

When booking online you can request an AM (7-12.30PM) or PM (12.30PM-6PM) slot. We can’t provide exact times outside of this.

Access Considerations

Road: Factor In the Width of your road when ordering a Skip. Most are fine but there does need to be plenty of access for a HGV. If you live on a cul-de-sac or dead end then let us know so we can safely back in & try avoid blocking the road.

Parked Cars: Please ensure the the drop off area is free from parked cars.

Height Restrictions: Consider Height Restriction Bars that are in your area leading up to your property. Let us know if there are any and we will try to navigate a different route.

Overhead Hazards: Ensure no overhead hazards (wires or trees) block access or create a dangerous environment.

Gates: Please either provide a code or ensure that the gates are open for the scheduled delivery and collection dates.

Driveways: If your driveway won’t sustain the heavy load of the skip or if you want to avoid scratches then please plan for this.

You are responsible for telling us where to place the skip and ensuring it is suitable. A skip lorry and a full skip can be very heavy so there is a risk of damage, particularly on paved driveways. We are not able to responsibility for damage caused as a result of your instruction. If you’re worried about your drive being damaged then you will need to make arrangements for the skip to be placed elsewhere.
